Nubian Productions, NPC’s Production Studio is dedicated to supporting those innovating with the form, content and technique of creating media that deals with social themes. The studio focuses on new types of process, engaging projects that employ non-traditional methods of making work, such as procedural, algorithmic or community based input. It creates work in a variety of forms, including moving image, sound, open source software tools and public projects, and presents screenings, talks and exhibitions that situate the work in a broader cultural context.

The studio provides a range of computer programming, sound and moving image resources, including hardware, software and technical expertise, to support artists’ projects. Artists participate through a variety of programs, such as studio fellowships and residencies for emerging artists, commission grants of services, and a co-op program that provides subsidized audio/video post-production. The studio also produces its own content, such as work derived from its Apparatus open source software tools program.
